Former Maddie’s Shelter Medicine Residents Elected to Association of Shelter Veterinarians Board

Association of Shelter VeterinariansTwo former residents in the Maddie’s® Shelter Medicine Program at the University of Florida were elected to the board of directors of the Association of Shelter Veterinarians at its annual meeting in November 2015.

Amie Burling, DVM, DACVPM, and Staci Cannon, DVM, DACVPM, both completed three year residencies in the Program at UF and are Diplomates of the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine.

Dr. Burling is currently an Assistant Teaching Professor with the Shelter Medicine Program at the University of Missouri, and is obtaining a Master’s in Public Health degree with a concentration in Epidemiology from the University of South Florida.

Dr. Cannon is the medical director at Metro Animal Care and Control in Nashville, Tennessee, and completed her Master of Public Health degree at the University of Florida.
