On-campus Professional Certificate in Shelter Medicine


Students must complete 15 required credit hours by successfully completing the following required courses with a passing grade at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine.  Elective courses listed below are not required to earn the Maddie’s® Professional Certificate in Shelter Medicine.

Beginning with 1st year, students interested in pursuing the Maddie’s® Professional Certificate in Shelter Medicine are expected to:

Certificate students can participate in responses to veterinary-related disasters, emergency sheltering events, and other functions provided by the UF VETS.  However, every student MUST have completed VEM 5061 Introduction to Veterinary Disaster Response and obtained the required certifications from FEMA before being activated in a response event.
