Sixty students who reside in 26 different states and countries currently studying Shelter Animal Physical Health with Maddie’s® Shelter Medicine Program
Keeping “herds” of shelter pets healthy is a crucial duty for veterinarians who work with homeless dogs and cats. This semester, our online faculty also has the honor of instructing a “herd” of 60 veterinarians and veterinary students who enrolled this semester to learn more about Shelter Animal Physical Health.
We are delighted this large group of students chose to study how to prevent and manage outbreaks of the common infectious diseases (such as canine distemper, parvo virus, or ringworm) that too often plague animal shelters. The course covers best practices for shelter animal intake, wellness care, animal housing, sanitation, biohazard control, population management, medical record keeping, communications, and other topics that directly impact a shelter’s ability to keep pets healthy.
This semester’s online students reside in an amazing variety of locations, including:
18 US States: Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, and Virginia.
8 Countries: Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Singapore, Sputh Korea, the United Kingdom, and the United States
Not to be outdone, the semester’s online instructors also reside in a variety of locations including: Florida, New York, Ohio, Oregon, South Carolina, and even Thailand!
