Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease (RHD) vaccine now available to Florida veterinarians

white bunny rabbit looking frontward to viewer, Little bunny sitting on sofaThe growing number of Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease (RHD) positive locations, including the recent detection of RHDV-2 in Georgia and Cuba, has increased the risk to the Florida rabbit population.

In order to help protect Florida’s rabbit population, the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) will approve use of the European Rabbit RHDV vaccines on a per request basis. Licensed and accredited veterinarians may now apply for permission to order the vaccine by submitting a letter of request to Rabbits@FDACS.gov.
