Course Overview

This course explores the role of canine discrimination in society and the impact on animal shelters. Topics include: breed specific legislation (BSL), breed identification practices, shelter dog adoption policies and programs, breeds and behaviors, animal cruelty, and community outreach. The course will utilize a combination of reading, videos, webinars, and hands-on training. Most activities are self-paced and students are encouraged to collaborate with each other.
