About Jerika Brooks

Dr. Jerika Brooks is a Maddie’s Shelter Medicine Program intern at the University of Florida. She grew up in a small town in rural New Brunswick, Canada and relocated to the beautiful Caribbean island of Grenada for veterinary school in 2016. In 2017, she joined the school’s Feral Cat Project where she went on to organize the first SGU Feline Speuter, a day-long event of altering cats from low-income families. In 2018, she implemented the SGU Feline Safe-Handling Series, which provides veterinary students with supplemental education and hands-on feline experience. She completed her clinical rotations at the University of Georgia and was awarded her DVM from St. George’s University in April 2020.
