Before joining the University of Florida as faculty, Dr. Guerios worked as an Associate Clinical Professor in Soft Tissue Surgery and Surgical Oncology at the Federal University of Paraná in Brazil. Her passion for shelter medicine began when she provided veterinary care to dogs and cats in low-income communities in Brazil. She later founded a shelter medicine community outreach program and established the first mobile neutering unit in the country.
