About Erin L Katribe
Dr. Erin Katribe earned her DVM from Texas A&M University in 2009 and has dedicated her career to advancing lifesaving shelter medicine, first through many years of practice in shelter medicine and high‑quality, high‑volume spay/neuter in Austin, and now at Best Friends Animal Society. She currently serves as Best Friends’ Director of National Veterinary Programs, where she leads the National Shelter Medicine team supporting shelters across the country through disease prevention, outbreak response, medical and behavioral consultation, and population‑level program development.
Dr. Katribe completed her master’s degree in shelter medicine through the University of Florida in 2018 and achieved board certification in Shelter Medicine Practice through the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners in 2023. In addition to her national leadership role and her work in the University of Florida’s online shelter medicine graduate program, she serves as a reserve veterinarian for Humane World For Animals’ Rural Area Veterinary Services. She continues to play an active role in committees and task forces for the Association of Shelter Veterinarians. Her professional passion centers on practical, data‑driven approaches that help shelters increase capacity for care, improve welfare, and achieve sustainable lifesaving.
