Jill K Kirk,
Adjunct Lecturer In Shelter Medicine
About Jill K Kirk
Dr. Jill Kirk is the Medical Director for the Humane Society of Sarasota County, a non-profit animal welfare organization in Sarasota, Florida. She graduated from the University of Florida’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2014, and earned a Certificate in Shelter Medicine at that time. After graduation Dr. Kirk went back to school and earned her Masters of Science in Shelter Medicine and earned a Certificate in Veterinary Forensic Medicine as well.
Once she decided to become a veterinarian, she always knew that she was going to be a shelter vet. Growing up, she watched her mother (Dr. Sarah Kirk) change animals lives in shelter medicine. Dr. Kirk has worked for small non-profit shelters, large municipal shelters, and the ASPCA’s disaster response team. This team responded to both natural and man-made disasters.
Dr. Kirk has always been a crazy cat lady, and continues to be one. She lives on her farm that she shares with her mother, several horses, chickens, and of course, cats, in Sarasota.
