UF shelter medicine team heads back to Puerto Rico

The Maddie’s Shelter Medicine Program at UF returned to Puerto Rico as part of an assistance project with animal shelters on the island. On this trip, we returned to the Villa Michelle Albergue Animales in Mayagúez, and also visited the Humane Society of Puerto Rico near San Juan.

We worked on everything from enrichment to disease prevention to intake to TNR and more. We met wonderful people and wonderful animals, and can’t wait to see what develops as we continue working together.

We hope you enjoy this glimpse of what we experienced.
